What is health coaching?
Health coaching is you and me sitting down (either in person, over the phone, or even through email) and addressing areas of your health and wellness that you would like to improve. We address behavioral changes, basic nutrition, short-term goals, long-term goals, making movement a priority, kitchen overhauls, and obstacles you are likely to face.
Several times a month we’ll chat and monitor your progress. We’ll discuss all those things that a hectic American life cause to interfere with your goals. I’m a sounding board; an accountability partner; an encourager; a questioner; and an educator.
According to Anne Helmke at the National Wellness Institute, “Coaching provides a positive connection — a supportive relationship — between the coach and the person who wants to make a change. That connection empowers the person being coached to recognize and draw on his or her own innate ability and resource to make lasting changes for better health and well-being.”
