Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

I’ll be taking down my Reading List 2007 tab and starting the 2008 tab.  So I am copying my reading list to this post.  My reading goal this year is to complete the Bible in a year again.  I just completed it for the 22nd time.

Other resolutions:

1.  Finally finish memorizing the Westminster Shorter Catechism

2.  Complete the garden beds, plant the orchard, and keep it weeded until August.

3.  Learn to spin wool from my own sheep this Spring.

I read “From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankwiler” when I was in fifth grade. I will never forget that book. When you read The Bible in a year, do you begin in Genesis and end in Revelations or do you do a different order? I haven’t read it 22 times, but I do plan to read it every year and finish. The First time, it took me three months to do it. My daughter was only 9 months old when I started it, so I read during her nap times. I had never read it cover to cover before. It was life-altering.

We read 3 chapters a day Monday-Saturday and 5 chapters on Sunday. We read in any order we want. I normally do OT during the week, Psalms on Saturday, and NT on Sunday. CK read chronologically, HM last year read it in alphabetical order, MA just jumps around. We have charts so that we can check off chapters each day. It helps.

I love to go back and read those old books. I still find them delightful.

I hope you are having a very good start to the new year. I will be keeping you in my prayers. Real email coming soon.
